Rovidx portfolio project · Live tourism discovery MVP

A production-minded MVP, validated before publication.
The evidence describes the completed local build only. It is not presented as traffic, conversion, booking, revenue or engagement performance.
24 real seed listings
Six communities, six operators, six accommodations and six landmarks are represented across the content model.
All five tourism regions
Western Arctic, Sahtu, North Slave, South Slave and Dehcho are represented; Yellowknife is modelled within North Slave.
Four journeys and seven guides
Four experience-season journeys and seven activity guides provide structured entry points into discovery.
Build and route verification
The production build reported 62 generated pages and assets plus the server-side form handler; 60 local route and asset responses passed smoke testing.
Code-quality checks passed
Strict TypeScript and lint passed, and six automated tests covered content, filters, consent, invalid submissions, daylight edge cases and stale weather timestamps.
Failure states verified
Unknown routes return a custom 404, malformed submissions return field errors and cross-origin form submissions are rejected.
WildNWT is live at wildnwt.com. The validation evidence above describes the supplied build and route checks; it is not a claim about traffic, conversions, bookings, revenue or engagement.
A proof point for modern Northern destination products.
WildNWT is a self-initiated Rovidx portfolio project for tourism organizations, destination marketing groups, communities, lodges and operators. It pairs strong editorial direction with useful product features and is live at wildnwt.com as an independent travel guide, not an official tourism board website or a complete directory of the territory.
Help a first-time visitor understand the North without overwhelming them.
Tourism websites often ask visitors to navigate a large geographic directory before they know what type of trip they want.
That creates friction in a destination as vast and varied as the Northwest Territories.
WildNWT reframes discovery around overlapping experience seasons, then connects that first decision to regions, communities, places to stay, operators, landmarks and practical planning information.
- Use Aurora Season, Midnight Sun, Winter Adventure and Summer Road Trips as the primary exploration model.
- Represent all five official tourism regions while treating Yellowknife as a featured North Slave destination.
- Bring communities, operators, stays and landmarks into one coherent search and map experience.
- Add useful weather, daylight, access and travel context without presenting changing information as a guarantee.
- Create a premium editorial system rather than a generic booking directory.
- Keep the MVP focused: no accounts, booking engine, database or operator dashboard.
Lead with an experience, connect the content, and make trust visible.
- Invite visitors to choose the kind of North they want to encounter before asking them to navigate geography.
- Model five official tourism regions and keep Yellowknife within North Slave rather than inventing a sixth region.
- Use one typed content layer to power cards, detail pages, filters, map markers, structured data and a future CMS path.
- Treat the interactive map, favourites and live weather as part of the traveller journey instead of decorative add-ons.
- Show source links, verification dates, image provenance and coordinate qualifications so limitations remain clear.
A season-first tourism platform built around useful discovery.
01
Season-first experience journeys
Four detailed experience seasons connect suitable months, packing notes, travel considerations, regional context and filtered discovery.
02
Connected content model
Twenty-four real seed listings and seven activity guides share structured fields for geography, seasons, travel methods, sources, verification and imagery.
03
Search, filters and mapping
Searchable, URL-based discovery connects cards and MapLibre markers across content type, region, season, activity, access mode, community and month.
04
Weather and daylight context
A server-side Open-Meteo provider supplies current Yellowknife conditions, daily highs and lows, sunrise, sunset and daylight duration with clear unavailable and stale states.
05
Private-by-default favourites
A device-local shortlist uses localStorage, requires no account and explains that saved places are not transmitted.
06
Secure form foundations
Newsletter, contact and listing workflows include consent, server-side validation, honeypots, rate limiting, same-origin checks and review-first publishing behavior.
From inspiration to a practical route.
One clear first decision leads into connected editorial content and planning utility without forcing visitors to understand the territory's geography in advance.

02
Refine the trip
Filter by region, month, activity, access mode or community.

Ready for the next layer of content and production operations.
WildNWT demonstrates how Rovidx approaches a real destination product: begin with a clear traveller decision, connect editorial content to useful tools, respect source information and create a foundation that can grow without a rewrite.
Now that the guide is live, the next layer can focus on content expansion, ongoing editorial review, device-level accessibility checks and a managed content workflow.
Provider plans and credentials should continue to match the requirements of each production integration.
